I recently met up with the Koehmstedt family in downtown Raleigh at City Market, which has proven to be a favorite on-location site for family photos. The afternoon was chilly; after all, Christmas is only a few weeks away! We lucked out with the lighting, though, and as you can see from these photos, we captured some fabulous shots of the Koehmstedts. I had a blast meeting and working with this super-cute family.Enjoy some of the “highlights” from our afternoon together…

I have been a fan of Pink and Polka Dot’s crafty creations for a while now, so of course I was thrilled when Kristi Maxwell (Pink and Polka Dot herself!) contacted me about family photographs! I met with the Maxwells in charming historic Clayton on a chilly morning last week. Yep, all this talk about fall weather in December caught up with me! But the Maxwells thought warm sunny thoughts, daydreamed about being on the beach, and muscled through it!  The girls where beautiful and were very good sports about the weather…in fact, I think they were rewarded with hot cocoa afterwards! Here is a little sneak peek of the shots we took that morning…

The weather has been amazing this year! It’s December and the weather still feels like fall. I had a wonderful morning with the Cooper family. They invited me to their lovely home for their session. We were able to get some wonderful shots of this great family and even some with their beloved pets! Here are a few of my favorites…

Fall leaves floated down around us as the kids from a homeschool co-op in Garner, NC lined up for school portraits. As you can see from the thumbnails below, we had gorgeous autumn skies, great lighting, and a lot of smiling faces! This was a fun shoot for me because there was such a wide range of ages–from toddlers to teenagers. These pictures are a bit of a departure from a more traditional “headshot” school picture, but I think you’ll agree that it’s a refreshing change. Enjoy!

In between all the rainy days, the rain dried up and the clouds went away. It was a really beautiful day to be outside photographing this great family! This was a fun location in downtown Raleigh. The older son was a stitch to be around; he had wonderful stories to tell and a great sense of humor. The younger son was in constant motion and was curious of the new surroundings; and with those beautiful eyes and adorable curls he was hard to resist! The Haynes family has the most beautiful eyes I have seen. It was a joy working with them. Here is a little sneak peek to enjoy!

What a beautiful “spring” day it turned out to be on Sunday!! A wonderful afternoon to spend at Duke Gardens. If you are ever in the area, pack a lunch and spend the day wandering about the gardens; you will be glad you did! The McQueen family was such a joy to work with. Their children are adorable. Their son had informed me that he had a very good camera with binoculars and that he was going to help me take pictures…he did a great job helping! Their daughter loved having her photo taken and giggled about the whole session which is great since she is barely a year old…she is a fast one! Well without further adieu here are a few of the shots from the day I hope you enjoy!DSC_0050WatermarkDSC_0100WatermarkedDSC_0164WatermarkedDSC_0302WatermarkedDSC_0108WatermarkedDSC_0316WatermarkedDSC_0322WatermarkedDSC_0242Watermarked

This was a wonderful session at the Patterson’s lovely home. They have a beautifully landscaped backyard which made it a great place for this maternity session. They are a cute family and are excited as they await little baby J’s arrival! It was such a pleasure to photograph this maternity session for the Patterson family. Here are a couple of my favorite from the day.

We were blessed with a beautiful Sunday morning for the Nixon family’s photo session. Pullen Park in Raleigh is a fabulous spot for taking photographs. It’s one of my favorite locations and never fails to deliver some spectacular backdrops for casual family photographs. The Nixon daughters are adorable and looked gorgeous with those beautiful blue eyes set against brown and orange fall leaves. The Nixon family is a sweet family and I very much enjoyed the privilege of working with them. Here are a few of my favorite moments from the day.

What a wonderful day it turned out to be! The morning was drizzly and overcast and by afternoon it cleared up and became a beautiful day to be outside photographing a lovely family!! The Walls’ were a joy to work with. Their little girls had practiced special poses for the session and they were great. They are expecting their third baby pretty soon, so this was a great time to take maternity portraits and some family portraits before the new addition arrives. Here a few of my favorite photos from the day.
